The MAC Alliance is proud to introduce a new, state-of-the-art eye tracking technology, called RightEye®. This simple vision-tracking test is FDA-cleared and takes only five minutes. With the RightEye® system, we can obtain measurable, oculomotor information to help us address patient symptoms following a traumatic brain injury like a concussion. As a result, we can often prescribe a simple at-home vision exercise program to correct issues.
Vision problems can be a top indicator post-concussion that something is “off.” Balance, in particular, can be so greatly affected that even walking becomes difficult. While basic eye charts can’t measure vision skills, RightEye® can help assess and restore functional vision after a traumatic brain injury (concussion).
Some of our most basic activities, like reading a book, playing a sport or driving a car, rely on the eyes, eye muscles and brain working together. According to the American Optometry Association, 90% of concussions result in vision issues. After a brain injury, individuals can be left with functional vision issues that impact their daily lives.
Signs of a functional vision problem can include:
- Difficulty concentrating
- Frequent headaches
- Short attention span
- Poor reading comprehension
- Poor coordination of balance
Another RightEye® Benefit: Improved Sports Performance
Did you know that in sports, almost 80% of perceptual input is estimated to be visual? Athletes with even 20/20 vision may not be performing at their peak. We can test eye movement to see just how well you play your favorite sport. With RightEye®, we can identify opportunities to strengthen athletic performance.
If you’re experiencing issues like difficulty reading or any of the other signs above, let us help you change your quality of life. Contact your local MAC Alliance location for more information on the RightEye® tracking technology and SEE what you may have been missing!
