We must increase public awareness of concussions and how they are treated. — Dr. Vincent Schaller, M.D. DABFM, CIC, Director of MAC Alliance

New Brain Injury Assessment: We’re the First!

Fast New Brain Injury Assessment: And We’re the First!

The MAC Alliance is so proud! We’re the first group of medical professionals to bring the dynamic new BrainScope® One to Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. This FDA-cleared, easy-to-use concussion device now allows doctors to make immediate point-of-care assessments for head injuries anywhere, anytime.

What if you fall on a wet floor and have a nasty headache?

Or are involved in a car accident, or a sports or work injury that results in headaches, dizziness, nausea, light/sound sensitivity, or even without loss of consciousness? With BrainScope® One, doctors at the MAC Alliance can objectively assess the full spectrum of brain injuries at selected MAC Concussion Centers.

The BrainScope® One device—a simple hand-held headset and accompanying mobile app— is ready to use to evaluate head injuries in patients over the age of 18 within three days of injury.

The apparatus works by measuring patterns of electrical activity in the brain via electroencephalogram (EEG). We immediately learn if the patient has a concussion and/or needs to go for a CT scan for further diagnosis of a suspected brain hemorrhage (“brain bleed”), which is luckily normally not the case. Our patients avoid the high costs and time spent sitting in an ER waiting room for a test (CT scan) that exposes the patient to radiation (400x that of a dental x-ray!) and can’t even detect concussion.

BrainScope® One, developed in partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense, is the first FDA-approved device that assesses brain injury including concussions and brain bleeds.

It has been the recipient of several awards including the Frost and Sullivan 2017 Best Practices Award for New Product Innovation in the Traumatic Brain Injury Assessment Solutions Market, and is a two-time winner of the GE-NFL Head Health Challenge.
