With this new FDA-approved EEG technology, we can thoroughly assess concussions and more severe brain injuries long after injuries or accidents.

Assessing Concussions with BrainScope® One

BrainScope One available at MAC Alliance

Is it a Concussion? Is there Permanent Structural Injury? Find Out Faster with BrainScope® One.

BrainScope® One is an FDA cleared, safe, accurate, and easy-to-employ concussion tool. Developed in partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense, BrainScope provides accurate concussion assessments for patients 18-85 long after a sports collision, fall, car accident, or other injury. Significantly, BrainScope can detect long-term permanent injury by evaluating the electrical activity in the brain through non-invasive EEG technology. MAC Alliance is proud to have as one of its tools to help patients in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of brain trauma and concussions.

Avoid Unnecessary Radiation With BrainScope

A computed tomography scan (commonly known as a CT scan or CAT scan) are used by doctors to create detailed pictures of your bones, organs and other tissues. However, concussions alone do not result in identifiable change on a CT scan. Often, patients who are rushed to the ER after a head injury are ordered a CT scan by the attending physician to check for brain injuries. This is done even though the test cannot assess concussions or mild traumatic brain injury (TBI). Some research shows that more than 90% of scans are found to be “negative,” meaning no findings of brain bleed, brain tissue damage, or intracranial lesions that would require treatment. As a result, valuable time in diagnosing is wasted and the patient is exposed to unnecessary radiation. In addition, CT scans expose patients to 400x more radiation than a dental X-ray.

BrainScope One analyzes EEG electrical signals to identify issues after a head injury. Statistics show BrainScope is a proven complementary tool to help diagnose concussion and structural brain injuries. With BrainScope, we can help prevent unnecessary trips to the ER in low-risk concussion patients.

BrainScope Features

Healthcare professionals at MAC Alliance locations across Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia are trained to use the BrainScope One device. Features include:

  • Easy and portable: A small, non-invasive headset and mobile app measures brain electrical activity and neurocognitive function
  • Radiation-free: We can screen for brain injury and concussion with this simple device so you can often avoid a CT scan and unnecessary radiation. Remember, a CT scan most likely won’t detect a concussion.
  • Accurate: EEG-based technology
  • Comprehensive: Objectively assesses all brain injury – including concussions
  • Convenient: Avoid the stress, expense and wait time of a typical trip to the local ER.
  • Reliable: Quick answers and immediate treatment for optimal peace of mind

How BrainScope Works
